Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Access Control Technician to support installation projects in Ohio. The technician will be responsible for wiring and device installation of electronic access control systems in commercial environments. This position focuses on the physical installation of access control hardware - the technician will be handed a programming matrix and is expected to properly wire panels, field devices, and infrastructure according to drawings and standards. This role does not require system programming or software configuration.
Key Responsibilities
Install, terminate, and label cabling for access control systems (Cat6, RS-485, power, etc.).
Wire access control panels, boards, power supplies, and related enclosures.
Install and connect devices including card readers, door contacts, request-to-exit devices, strikes/mag locks, and associated hardware.
Work from a provided programming matrix and wiring diagrams to ensure all connections are landed correctly.
Mount, secure, and dress wiring neatly within panels and device locations ("devicing out").
Perform basic continuity testing and verification of wiring prior to handoff.
Coordinate with project leads and customers to confirm device placement and wiring standards.
Adhere to jobsite safety standards, company policies, and customer-specific requirements.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in low voltage installation, preferably access control, security, or fire alarm systems.
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, riser drawings, and device location plans.
Familiarity with common access control hardware (readers, strikes, REX, maglocks, panels, power supplies).
Proficient with hand tools, test meters, and installation best practices.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to clean, professional installations.
OSHA 10/30 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
Must be able to pass standard background checks and comply with customer site requirements.
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work on ladders, and perform overhead cabling.
Work may be performed in new construction or existing commercial environments.
Travel to job sites across Ohio (per diem or mileage may be provided depending on project).
