Job Description

At RK&K, we are seeking an Environmental Scientist II to join our Natural Resources Team in Austin. As an RK&K environmental scientist you will be actively involved in a wide range of natural resource surveys and investigations (vegetation, habitat assessments, protected species, waters/wetland/stream assessments, water quality permitting).

Essential Function

• Conduct field investigations and surveys
• Prepare documents and natural resource reports
• Conduct/assist in protected species surveys, habitat assessments, and other natural resource inventories
• Interact with clients and regulatory agencies
• Collaborate with other environmental professionals

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, biology, or equivalent•
• Five (5+) years relevant experience
• Broad knowledge of and experience with Texas native species and natural resources, particularly State/Federal protected species
• Team-oriented
• Adept at juggling multiple tasks
• Excellent at written and verbal communication
• Motivated to find creative solutions to environmental problems
• Excited to work outdoors in all seasons
• Experience with GIS (ArcPRO)

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Master's Degree in environmental science, biology or equivalent
• Candidates with experience complying with National Environmental Policy Act requirements pertaining to transportation projects
• Candidates with experience complying with the Endangered Species Act to obtain clearance for transportation projects
• Natural Resources experience in Texas
• TxDOT precertification and GIS experience
• CPR/First Aid training
