Extrusion Production Operator

Skilled production operator responsible for setup and operation of extrusion equipment, working in a safe manner, and completing in-line quality checks.

** Purpose:

**

The primary purpose of the job is to operate all extrusion and downstream equipment and run all production jobs with minimal supervision. In addition, this position is responsible for effectively producing high quality products.

** Available Shifts:

**

Afternoons: 3:45 pm- 12:00 am

Midnights: 11:45 pm- 8:00 am

** Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

**

• Run extrusion jobs with minimal supervision.

• Understand and properly use measuring equipment.

• Complete required paperwork (process monitoring sheets, maintenance repair requests, scrap task force daily sheets, etc.).

• Generate bar code labels and tag parts.

• Understand and properly perform all statistical process control requirements including entering basic production data and process events into the computer.

• Cut and weigh scrap.

• Operate grinders.

• Mix material for each production job.

• Maintain and comply with the quality system.

• Exhibit supportive and positive behavior in all interactions with co-workers, supervisors, managers, and customers.

• Maintain a safe working environment.

** Other Functions:

**

• Drive a hi-lo.

• Occasionally required to work overtime and/or weekends.

• Clean and maintain general work area.

** Minimum Requirements:

**

Skills/ knowledge

• Basic math skills, including general understanding of fractions and decimals
• Basic Statistical Process Control
• Basic blueprint reading
• Understand basic running and drying temperatures
• 1 yr. manufacturing experience
• Prior plastics experience a plus – extrusion, injection molding, etc.
• Mechanically inclined

Experience/Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three years of hands-on plastic experience a plus. SPC experience; Training in Blueprint Reading;

All candidates must sucessfully pass a physical, drug screen, and background check.

• Equipment Troubleshooting
• Mechanical Troubleshooting Skills
• Machine Setups for Production Runs
• Plastic Extrusion Experience
• High School / GED
• Experience in a Manufacturing Environment
• Injection Molding Experience
