Job Description

 

J Michael Consulting (JMC) is seeking an experienced, remote Project Management Director  to lead and implement company-wide initiatives that support both short- and long-term strategic goals. This leadership role works closely with the CEO/President and Vice Presidents to drive the growth and success of the organization through effective project management practices.

The Director will be responsible for establishing and overseeing the JMC Project Management Office (PMO) and will provide strategic guidance, leadership, and coaching across the organization. This role ensures the implementation of robust project controls, adherence to organizational policies, and effective reporting and people systems-supporting JMC's mission, operational excellence, and long-term financial health.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide full oversight of assigned managers and cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with budgets, compliance standards, and best practices.
  • Lead hiring, termination, and compensation decisions for multiple teams in coordination with HR and executive leadership.
  • Manage and monitor assigned departmental and project budgets to ensure financial targets are met.
  • Direct and support multiple teams and managers, promoting a collaborative, team-oriented culture.
  • Champion the ongoing use of the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) processes and tools across teams.
  • Lead the long-term management of the Project Management Office (PMO).
  • Drive initiatives to meet company-wide sales, profitability, cash flow, and strategic business goals.
  • Analyze internal data and industry trends to forecast developments and guide company strategy.
  • Execute company strategies and lead teams in effectively responding to emerging business needs.
  • Promote transparent, inclusive communication across all levels of the organization.
  • Mentor and coach managers and team members in core values, fostering a respectful, inclusive workplace.
  • Oversee development and compliance of internal policies, regulatory documentation, and operational procedures, lead execution of policy changes.
  • Maintain strong, high-quality relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners, and clients.
  • Provide leadership on staffing strategies, retention plans, and succession planning to ensure the right mix of talent and skills across the organization.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and leadership to develop training programs, career paths, and professional development plans.
  • Foster a success-driven, accountable, and values-aligned work environment.
  • Implement and monitor continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team performance and service quality.
  • Identify opportunities to increase revenue and maximize ROI within assigned areas.
  • Proactively improve team environments and reinforce a strong, positive organizational culture.
  • Lead and support change management efforts across functional areas.
  • Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned.

 

Compensation: The salary range for this role is $140,000 – $160,000annually.

Final compensation will be determined based on skills and experience. Entry-level candidates may start at the lower end of the range, while highly experienced candidates may be considered for the upper end.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in any field is required. Master of Business Administration (MBA) or advanced degree is preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in project management, including in a leadership or director-level role.
  • Project Management Office (PMO) experience is required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
  • Exceptional leadership skills to effectively lead managers with a team-player approach.
  • Leadership mindset to continually think of new and innovative ways to build, execute, and direct execution and company processes.
  • Highly analytical with the ability to consume, understand and make data-driven decisions.
  • Mathematical and financial skills for budgeting responsibilities.
  • People-focused to be effective at mentoring and connecting with managers.
  • Intelligent and articulate in relating to people at all levels of an organization.
  • Decisive yet open-minded and able to adapt to different situations quickly.
  • Energetic, forward-thinking, and creative individual with high ethical standards.
